This guitar has a great story I have to tell. I saw it while on the monthly trip to my local used gear store. It was black everywhere, top, back, neck and head. Even the knobs were paint.
Two days later, he called back and said he had discovered a fantastic thing: by cleaning the paint only, he found the original color: it was blue sparkle!! Needless to say I was real glad...
So the top is blue, but the back is ivory.
Here you can see the details about the sparkle, the pickups, the bridge and the selector switches.
The pickups are both really dry. No round sound here, but just excellent for garage-oriented demented surf where highs are expected and there is not a pound of fatness.
And the look is so eye-catching...
Details about the logo and switches, here in the neck position.
Detail of the head.
I've replaced the machine-heads that were beautiful but poor-looking. I still have them, of course.
The Eko "Blue" page.
Here is an old Eko guitar; I know the
four-pickup model is a 500/4V so I figure this is a 500/2V. This is by far
too complicated for a name, so I call it the Eko "blue".
I bought it because its overall look was good and it was working OK. But I gave it to a guy, telling him I wanted him to perform some major plastic surgery, a.k.a. a refin. I told him that I wanted it in metallic blue sparkle. Ok, he said.
The neck is 21fret long ans sunburst-paint. Two pickups, the same as in the "Jazz" Eko. The controls here are blue, of course...
